Sounds Like and Beat the Cravings Stakeholder Toolkit

On Wednesday 1st of May 2024, Quit launched two Victoria-wide campaigns 'Sounds like' and 'Beat the cravings.'

Please share the campaign assets on your channels during the campaign period – 1 May to 8 June, 2024 – and help reduce smoking rates and save lives.

Campaign summary

Sounds like

‘Sounds like’ is a campaign that aims to motivate someone who smokes to quit by emphasising the damage smoking is causing such as coughing, wheezing, struggling to breath or experiencing bleeding gums. These common concerns may lead to life-long consequences, like severe breathlessness or loss of teeth. The campaign aims to motivate people to quit smoking and seek further support by contacting the Quitline, where they can access a range of quit resources and tools. 

The target audience for this campaign is Victorian people who smoke, aged between 18-64 years.

Beat the cravings

'Beat the cravings' is a campaign that highlights commonly experienced craving triggers that may occur. Quitting smoking is an around the clock challenge and there are so many moments that cravings can occur. Triggers include with coffee, after breakfast, when you’re bored or before bed. The campaign highlights that Quit are here to help people get through any craving moments.

The target audience for this campaign is Victorian people who smoke, aged 30+ years.

  • Listen to your body, it’s telling you it’s time to quit.

  • The coughing, wheezing, and bleeding gums are tell tale signs that your body wants you to quit.

  • Quitting smoking is one of the most important actions you can do for your health.

Beat the cravings

  • Focus on the here and now and beat cigarette cravings one at a time.

  • There are actionable tactics that can be used to help overcome cravings as they arise.

  • Choose the support that suits you. Get help from counsellors at Quitline or visit quit.org.au.
