How to quit if you live with someone who smokes or vapes

It can be tricky to quit when you live with others who smoke or vape.

Here are some tips to help you quit, regardless:

  • If you live with a person who smokes or vapes, chat to them about keeping the house smoke/vape free, or at least keeping their smoking or vaping to one place. That way, you know how to avoid cigarettes and/or vapes.

  • Let your housemate know what they can do to help you quit. If you’d rather they didn’t offer you cigarettes or vapes, or smoke or vape in the same room as you, or leave cigarettes or vapes lying around, politely let them know.

  • Have you asked your housemate to quit with you? They might be thinking about quitting too.

  • Quitting smoking or vaping can motivate those you live with to do the same. Your new life might be the inspiration they need!
